Judiciary of Rwanda: In-Service Training in International Commercial Law Training

Following an international bidding process, the Judiciary of Rwanda awarded ILI-ACLE a contract to provide training on international commercial law to the Rwandan Judiciary. Following an assessment, and in close collaboration with Case Western Reserve University Law School, ILI-ACLE designed and implemented a specially tailored programme structured around three modules—international trade and economic law, international business transactions and international communications and innovation law. 29 judges and registrars, including judges of the Supreme Court, participated in this training which combined both face-to-face and online training, and led to the award of an Advanced Professional Certificate in International Commercial Law.

Lesotho: Commercial Court Roundtables

As part of the three-year training programme supported by the Central Bank of Lesotho, ILI-ACLE arranged two one-day commercial court roundtables in 2012 and 2013 in Lesotho bringing together senior judges and other senior judicial officers from several jurisdictions on the African continent.  Organized in small and intimate settings, the roundtables allowed participants to freely share experiences on innovations and challenges in their respective court operations. Insightful and stimulating, the platform provided the opportunity to exchange practical advice and recommendations at a collegial and peer level. Participants represented courts from Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia.
